To mark the 35th anniversary of 17th November 1989, the Day of the Fight for Freedom and Democracy, a unique audio-visual essay has been put together, and will be shown on a 2x4-metre screen at CAMP.
The essay will combine archive film material, photographs, maps, and contemporary visual composition. The work captures the events of November '89 and places them in the context of the architecture and city life of the time. The essay is about 20 minutes long and will be screened in a loop throughout the day on November 17th in the main hall of CAMP.
The event also includes an outdoor programme (12 – 4pm) in front of CAMP, featuring performances by songwriters like Člověk krve and Metoděj Klokočka, as well as debates and presentations by citizens' initiatives.
Entry to the event, including the projection, is free. This event takes place in collaboration with the cultural platform GOODGOOD and the Centre for Architecture and Town Planning (CAMP).
'The energy and inner compulsion of the students who fought for freedom and democracy played a key role in the Velvet Revolution. It was they who lifted up the whole society, they who informed the public across the country about the events of November '89. Having studied dozens of hours of archive material, I've decided to dedicate this visual essay to those students and young people who – not only in November 1989, but throughout our history – have dedicated their energy and attention to the fight for fairness, democracy, and freedom.'
