Born in Trinidad but long based in London, rapper and songwriter Berwyn has emerged as one of the most exciting new artists on the UK scene. The scope of his work – taking in rap, R&B, spoken word, and poetry – resists easy genre classification, but what unites it is its honesty, force of personality, and a lyrical sensibility that combines the personal and political to devastating effect.
Berwyn's first release, the 2020 mixtape Demotape/Vega, quickly caught the attention of fans and critics, and in 2021 was nominated for the Mercury Prize. The single 'Glory,' which he memorably performed solo at the piano at the Mercury ceremony, was a powerful statement of intent, showcasing the blend of social consciousness and personal openness that has come to characterise his music. Berwyn received a second Mercury nomination for his full-length debut album, Who Am I?, released last year. The album marks his continuing rise as an artist addressing some of the most pressing issues of his day. Notably, Berwyn has also collaborated with elite producer Fred Again, who called him 'one of the best storytellers in the world today.' Whether rapping, singing, or reciting, Berwyn gives us his truth direct and unfiltered. His Prague Sounds show will be his first ever appearance in the Czech Republic.
'The ferocity of Berwyn’s talent and the piercing beauty of his crackling, folk-R&B croon mean the heavy topics he writes about are never a burden. [Who Am I is] an inspiring, educational album – it should be on the national curriculum.'

Berlin's Moses Yoofee Trio is a band at the forefront of the new jazz scene in Europe. Their propulsive, sometimes explosive sound bears the imprint of influences from Dilla-era hip-hop and R&B to soul music, and they´ve built a reputation as a thrilling live act. Earlier this year, their debut album MYT was released to critical acclaim.
' [Moses Yoofee Trio] pick up on a specifically 21st-century lineage from Robert Glasper through to the likes of Yussef Kamaal, but with a spacey vibe with their own signature.'
